TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY POST - SOFIA

I’ve been so inspired this year with my travel photography work, and realised I don’t really share any of it! Travel & photography are probably my two biggest passions so exploring them together has been wonderful, and the perfect tonic to wedding season. It enables me to be creative not for a client or couple, but free to see and capture the world as I want.

I’ve written more in depth about shooting on film rather than digital on this post here about Sri Lanka. All of these are on film too - I bought a 35mm lens before I went which I am MUCH preferring rather than the 50mm. I’m off to India in January and can’t decided between just taking my film camera (so many risks with that - missed moments, lost films, no backup system) or my fuji travel camera (more likely to get nicked). I feel like there’s going to be SO much to capture i’ll feel restrained by the film but then maybe i’ll just fall back into over shooting on the digital? Ideally I want to take both but my travel companions are worried that two cameras doesn’t come under ‘light packing’…

Anyway, Sofia! This little trip was spontaneous (well, for me!) as one of my best friends had planned on going by herself for her birthday, which obviously I couldn’t possibly let happen so I simply had to tag along. We flew out Saturday night and back Tuesday night so it was a relatively small trip, although I felt we got a lot done without having to get up at the crack of dawn. It was a wonderful insight to another European country and I was very pleasantly surprised how much delicious food we had (the main priority on any trip). Emma is my fave travel buddy (so far we’ve been to Italy, France, Spain & Iceland together) and didn’t mind me camera wielding like a total tourist the whole time either!

Highlights on the trip for me were:

Hiking up Vitosha in the pouring rain

Yoga just before our plane ride at Yoga District Madala

So much incredible food! We ate at Moma, Cava, Boho and a few other ace spots

Exploring the town with our tourist map & camera checking out all the old churches

The Cemetery (trust me, it was really beautiful!)

Discovering an amazing little board game bar in an old house!

Coffee and the big second hand shop at the Market Hall
