Salisbury Cathedral wedding photos with Relaxed marquee reception at home - Hannah & Jesse
I know I often say this a lot but it was very hard to whittle down these to a blog post size photographs! Partly because I had a second shooter with me (thanks Marc le Galle) capturing all the boys in the morning and there are some of his shots I just LOVE, and also because these guys had so many fab guests!
My second shooter for the day, Marc, started off with the boys where it often starts... at the pub! I love these images and how he captured the boisterous excited mood with the guys before the ceremony.
Bridal prep was at Hannah's childhood home, the beautiful Hermitage in Salisbury and I feel like I slotted right in in the morning, photographing but also helping with the little things (finding lipsticks, tying flower girl sashes, collecting table clothes!"
I'm not usually big on details, if the dress looks gorgeous hung up I'll definitely snap a photo, but I'm not one for traipsing round the house for 30 minutes trying to get it perfect. I'd much rather be capturing the people! That said there was some beautiful jewellery of Hannah's that I couldn't resist photographing, not to mention the display of family photos on the side board. I love seeing previous family members and generations looking up at the bride on her wedding day.
Salisbury Cathedral Wedding Ceremony
It was a first for me shooting in Salisbury Cathedral and let me tell you it was a bit more than slightly intimidating! Such a huge grand building and I was terrified that notoriously clumsy me would do something embarrassing... luckily though all was well...
After the giant confetti through (with 200 guests and at least 200 more spectators it was fun trying to organise everyone into two lines...!) we snuck off to the cloisters for 10 minutes to get some photos in the beautiful buildings. Jesse's ushers were worth their weight in gold in politely policing around so we could get a few photos without anyone in the background! Cheers boys, can I take you to my next wedding!?
Marquee reception wedding photos
The festivities continued back at Hannah's family home in a beautiful marquee where there were some emotional speeches, some gorgeous food and then some incredible dancing! You'll also notice there's A LOT of black and white in these photos, although I delivered a lot more colour the photos that really stand out for me mostly seem to be in black and white! Some weddings suit it more than others, for no reason really it just works best. Hannah is such a classic beauty and the grand venue of the cathedral seems much more timeless in black and white.
These guys also had a bloody good first dance, the band were ace and they danced to Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield!
I received a lovely email the day after the wedding, knowing that my couple's feel I've done my job and more is just the best.
"Florence,
Not sure where to start and need to keep this one brief as we are taking off as I type! Just to say a huge huge huge thanks from us both for everything you did for us yesterday - both of you went far and beyond your call of duty and we are truly grateful. THANK YOU we absolutely loved having there as part of a pretty spectacular day.
Thank you thank you thank you and hope you got back safely.
Han and Jess x"
which was then followed by this when they got their photos!
"Wooooowwwwwwwwiiiieeeeeeeee thank you we love love love them! We cancelled our plans and stayed in and did exactly what you said - have watched the whole lot twice and am about to start a third time!"
